Vimmerby
Consultation
The Project
Novar Sweden AB (referred to as Novar) is exploring the possibility of establishing a solar park approximately 3.5 km northeast of the town of Vimmerby. The project, called Marielund, is planned to cover an area of approximately 106 hectares, which is currently used for forestry.
⸻
The Consultation
A consultation process is now being carried out in accordance with Chapter 6 of the Swedish Environmental Code, offering particularly affected parties the opportunity to comment on the project. The consultation area extends 500 meters from the project area and has been expanded in certain directions to ensure that all potentially affected parties are given the chance to provide input. Companies, organizations, or associations within the consultation area – or those deemed likely to be affected by the solar park – will also be invited to participate in the consultation. Consultations will also be held with the County Administrative Board of Kalmar County and the Municipality of Vimmerby.
Novar now invites you to participate in the ongoing consultation process by submitting written comments regarding the scope, design, and potential environmental impacts of the proposed project. The solar park could contribute approximately 86.7 GWh of renewable electricity per year to the municipality and the region.
Novar is supported in this consultation process by Renewable Sweden AB, a consultancy firm specializing in permitting processes for renewable energy projects.

Your comments, together with the consultation document, will form the basis for the County Administrative Board’s assessment of whether the project is likely to result in significant environmental impact. This decision, in turn, determines how the environmental assessment process will proceed.
⸻
Purpose of the Consultation
The purpose of the consultation process is to gather site-specific information and/or input on what should be particularly considered at the proposed location. It is an opportunity for authorities, neighbors, associations, and others who may be affected to express their views early in the process. As a participant in this consultation, you can, for example, highlight:
• What is important in the area – e.g., nature, wildlife, cultural environments, or outdoor recreation.
• Special local conditions – e.g., the presence of sensitive species, protected areas, or specific land uses.
• Questions or concerns you may have about the project.
The purpose of this stage is not to approve or reject the project, but to gather input on what aspects should be taken into account in the ongoing environmental assessment.
